Sports and Energy Drinks Study

AGD Makes National Media Headlines with its Sports and Energy Drinks Study
This week, the AGD issued a press release about a study that was published in the May/June 2012 issue of General Dentistry, showing that the alarming increase in the consumption of sports and energy drinks, especially among adolescents, is causing irreversible damage to teeth. Specifically, the study focused on the high acidity levels in the drinks, which cause significant erosion to tooth enamel. The AGD has also garnered national TV exposure on the ABC programs, “America This Morning” and “World News Now.” Additionally, the story has been featured on more than 130 segments on local TV news stations across the country, similar to this clip from the local ABC News station in New York City.
Globally, the media coverage the AGD has secured as a result of the press release has reached more than 218 million people.
